Springtime is here and your friends at the Athens Artists Memorial Project have been busy serving the arts community in Southeast Ohio.
We recently donated $2,000.00 to the Federal Valley Resource Center to help them serve their mission, as stated by AAMP President Doug Brooks below:
“The Athens Artists Memorial Project is very proud and excited to partner with and support the Federal Valley Resource Center. The FVRC exemplifies all that is good with community in Southeast Ohio. We are particularly invested in the music lending library where residents of the SE Ohio area can borrow all sorts of musical instruments and get lessons for FREE. AAMP’s mission is to support the arts in our region and we can’t think of a better way to promote learning a musical instrument than to be able to use one for free to see if you like it. Visit the FVRC in Stewart, Ohio or visit their website at https://federalvalleyresourcecenter.org/ ”
We also recently took in a nice donation by Jeff Calhoun… a 5 piece used drum set he donated to our cause, which we aim to give to one of the many lending library’s we are working with, or an individual in need.
Other projects in the works for 2023 include setting up booths for the various outdoor music festivals to occur this summer (Paw Paw Fest, Big Bend Blues Bash, Athens Community Music & Arts Festival, and a few more), as well as arranging to be the beneficiary of “Pints with a Purpose” (programs from local breweries to support charities) at such establishments such as Little Fish and Eclipse.
We’re looking forward to a busy 2023 season and invite you to get involved with our cause either by making a donation, or by helping to spread the word on how we can all improve arts education in Southeast Ohio.
