AAMP board members Stephanie and Maria endured a sweltering heat wave to set up a booth for the Athens Artists Memorial Project at the Athens Farmers and Arts Market.
A big Thanks to the Athens Art Guild for the invitation!
The theme was “recycling and upcycling” and each booth was asked to have a family friendly display or activity.
In addition to having several instruments for the kids to play (drums, maracas, etc.), we had a table set up for kids to make and decorate their own dried bean paper plate tambourines. (It was so hot our crayons were melting!) We also gave them directions on how to make pan flutes out of old straws and guitars out of tissue boxes and rubber bands.
While the kids colored and created their instruments, Stephanie and I were able to talk to the parents and all of the other folks about who AAMP is and what we offer the community.
Even at such an early Saturday morning hour, and even in such extreme heat, the market was well attended and quite fun, and everything considered, it was well worth our time to share our mission to the community!
