October 2018 Update: Hello Donors and Potential Donor, below is an update on our activities. The Fund’s balance is getting used well and our balance is just around $4,200.00 as we’ve dispersed a few gifts:
Recent Activities:
-
- We donated several instruments to the ARTS WEST “Lending Library,” a program intended to put instruments in the hands of people who can’t buy one outright. Our donations included:
- Lyon/ Washburn Electric Guitar (w/ case) value = $150
- Cort Acoustic Guitar (w/ case) value = $200
- Olympic Used Bass Guitar (w/ case) value = $150
- We donated 10 bass guitar lessons to Tony Shirk, an OU Student interested in learning but did not have the resources to do so.
Future Activities:
-
- Our dear friend Todd Dunbebin (Uncle Fun) passed away in January of 2018 and donated several instruments to the fund as well, which we are sorting through.
- Instead of renaming the fund to include the names of any future donors, we’re considering a total name change of the fund to AMMP, “Athens Musician Memorial Project.”
- Todd donated 4 guitars we’re getting valued and liquidated.
- We’ll be gifting $1,000.00 to Stuarts Opera House (Nelsonville, Ohio) to put to good use in their “Kids After School Music Program.”
- We’ll be gifting $500 to the Athens County Children’s services “Santa Tree Project” which matches kids with instruments who cannot otherwise afford it.
We’ll be aiming to host a fund raiser concert / benefit (to refill the coffers) in the Spring, and we thank you for your interest in our October 2018 Update.
