On Saturday, August 12, 2023, Scott Winland put on another amazing community celebration with the Athens Community Arts and Music Festival, which went on all day and closed down West Union Street in the heart of Athens, Ohio.
What started as a multi-venue celebration of local bands in the late 1990s has blossomed into a full blown street festival with a wide variety of artists, brewers, crafters, and music groups performing from all over.
Our organization had a booth right in the center of it all, and our board member extraordinairre Stephanie Hayes kept all our visitors entertained by having them guess how many beans are in a jar. The correct count was 2,200.
We raised a fair amount of money from the kind passers by, but more importantly, spread the word about how we take community funds and channel them to help artists in need in Southeast Ohio.
We’d like to thank Scott & Tracy Winland for inviting us, and our wonderful board members for staffing the booth (and setup/teardown). We look forward to attending again next year!
